Childhood memories.
In 1999 Ilya Rabinovich and Luan Nel performed a collaborative photo project. The subject was to check what they could remember from their childhood period and to check how those memories affect their artistic practices.
They have travelled together to Nel's birth city Johannesburg and to Rabinovich's birth place Kisheniev in Moldova. Rabinovich immigrated with his family to Israel in 1973, and this journey was the first visit to Kisheniev after 26 years.
The exhibited photographs are from Rabinovich's direct surroundings , the apartment where his family lived, the school he started to study and the kids are from the courtyard where he grew up.
Ilya Rabinovich lives and works in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
